Peter J. Driscoll

Experience

 

Peter Driscoll has practiced criminal law for over forty years, both as a prosecutor and as a defense lawyer. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the premier professional trial organization in America, and has been selected for inclusion in both Best Lawyers in America and New York Super Lawyers. Mr. Driscoll received his law degree from the Notre Dame Law School, where he was an editor on the Law Review. He is also an honors graduate of Providence College.

Following law school, Mr. Driscoll joined the New York County District Attorney's Office as an Assistant District Attorney, later serving as Deputy Chief of the Frauds Bureau. Thereafter, Mr. Driscoll was appointed Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of New York, and served as First Assistant and Director of the Hospital Division to the Special Prosecutor for Nursing Homes, Health and Social Services.  After leaving the A.G.’s Office, Mr. Driscoll joined a boutique criminal defense firm as partner, leaving in 1994 to co-found Driscoll & Redlich.

 

Practice

Mr. Driscoll has developed a diverse criminal and regulatory practice, with special expertise in the areas of tax, health care, the construction industry, labor unions, and the representation of public officials. His clients have included corporate officers, labor officials, health care professionals, sports figures, attorneys, accountants, and government officials, as well as a variety of corporate clients. He has been involved in many high-profile cases, including investigations of Enron, Arthur Andersen, KPMG, Ernst & Young, Marsh Inc., and J.P. Morgan Chase, and has achieved an impressive record of acquittals after trial. See Representative Matters 

Memberships

In addition to the American College of Trial Lawyers, Mr. Driscoll is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, where he has served on the Criminal Advocacy Committee, and of the American Bar Association, sections on Taxation, Criminal Justice, and Litigation. He has been elected to, and served on, the Boards of Directors of both the New York Council of Defense Lawyers and the New York County Lawyers Association, where he also was chairman of the Committee on Criminal Law and Procedure.
