Experience
Gareth Rhodes serves as counsel at Driscoll & Redlich where his representative matters have included criminal investigations, regulatory enforcement actions, as well as civil litigation. Gareth previously served as Deputy Superintendent and Special Counsel at the New York State Department of Financial Services, where he was a senior advisor to the Superintendent and member of the department’s executive leadership team. In his role at NYDFS, he helped manage an agency of 1,500 employees responsible for regulating 1,800 insurance companies and 1,400 banking institutions with combined assets of $8.4 trillion. Gareth was responsible for priority initiatives and numerous matters involving each of the department’s divisions, including banking, capital markets, research & innovation, insurance, consumer protection, and cybersecurity. Gareth has also served in senior positions in the New York Governor’s Office and as Deputy Inspector General of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Office of the Inspector General.
Mr. Rhodes is an adjunct professor of political science at CUNY, and he serves as an attorney and advisor to early stage entities in the financial services sector. Gareth received his law degree from Harvard Law School and his undergraduate degree from CUNY City College. He is a recipient of the Harry S. Truman scholarship.
